Porn titans Larry Flynt (ubiquitous and a household name) and Joe Francis (Girls Gone Wild) have sent a request to Washington, D.C., for a $5-billion bailout of the adult industry.
Part tongue in cheek but mostly a jab at the ridiculous idiots in the capital who are wasting taxpayer dollars and printing money faster than the Weimar Republic, the request, I believe, should be honored. If the feds can bail out a useless entity like Chrysler (not once, but twice–this time it won’t work, though), then porn deserves a share of the wealth.
Let’s face it, more people enjoy porn than buy or drive Chrysler products. (The Toyota Camry alone outsold all Chrysler products last year.)
Flynt said the recession has made people so depressed that they can’t enjoy sex. His logic ? "People can do without cars and such, but they can’t do without sex," he said in a statement.
Francis chimed in that porn is an industry "cherished by the American people," thus deserving of a bailout.
Unfortunely, for Joe Francis, the only bailout he should ask for is a ticket out of prison, as he faces incarceration for using under-age performers without their consent, and etc., etc.
Still, $5 billion could go a long way toward a whole new generation of adult entertainment. Might be worth it.
