Sorry, but I’ve been caught up in the holiday bustle of shopping and returning presents and not minding the blog so much.
I’ve also been sampling some of the movies mentioned as Oscar favorites. One proved very literary; the other was more lyrical (and gory).

The Los Angeles Dodgers, since the sale by the O’Malley Family, have distinguished themselves as the front runners in drug (steroids) dealing and covering it up while not winning a single postseason series, and also in heaving the greatest hot-air balloons in major league baseball history.

Like the French police commandant in Casablanca who said he was "shocked, shocked" that gambling was going on even as he was handed his kickback, Cy Young conglomerate Roger Clemens was "shocked, shocked" that his name could be included on the list of steroid abusers compiled by George Mitchell.
He shouldn’t be, nor should anyone else.

I’ve written repeatedly about the steroids era in baseball, pointing the finger directly at Commissioner Bud Selig for knowing exactly what was going on and grinning while attendance soared and coffers were lined.
A cover-up, in other words, would be what Selig presided over, and my monker for that snow job is "silence of the sham."
