The New York Yankees’ Jason Giambi has spoken out about the use of steroids by major league baseball players, and neither the Yankees nor MLB is particularly happy about it.
Among other things, Giambi said that baseball should apologize for the widespread steroid abuse prevalent since sometime in the 1980s. He also said that steroids don’t help a ballplayer hit home runs. Ya hear that, [tab]Barry Bonds[/tag] and Mark McGwyre? You’re both living proof that Giambi is blowing smoke.
Now comes word that, in light of these comments, the Yanks are looking to void Giambi’s contract. ESPN, however, dutifully reported that even if they can’t void his contract, Giambi’s Yankee days won’t be that long or costly.
He’s owed just $21 million for the 2008 season, and after that the team can buy him out for a mere $5 million.
Where did I go wrong?
